Introducing the adidas Superstar ‘Shelltoe’ x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – a throwback to cartoons of the 90s.
Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo have returned, revitalized and more formidable than ever. Marking their 40th anniversary, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are igniting a new wave of enthusiasm among fans, tapping into the 1980s nostalgia that swept through comics, video games, and movies. You don’t need to decipher the secret of the ooze to recognize the unmistakable influence of the Turtles’ design!
Paying tribute to this iconic legacy, these adidas Superstar sneakers have transformed from its original silhouette: the iconic rubber toe is reimagined to mirror a turtle shell, while textured leather emulates the distinctive skin of the Turtles.
Departing from tradition, the brand’s iconic slogan, usually in French, is now presented in Italian—a gesture honoring the Renaissance artists who inspired the Turtles’ namesakes —while the adidas logo heel patch adopts the style of the original Eastman and Laird logo.
Above the classic 3-Stripes, “Superstar” is replaced with “Shelltoe,” and “NINJA POWER” that boldly adorns the tongue. Offering three sets of laces and special lace jewels commemorating each Turtle, these shoes empower you to tailor your style. Beneath the surface, akin to the Turtles themselves, a manhole cover discreetly rests on the strobel board. And there’s more: each pair includes its own reprint of the inaugural issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
